TIPS FOR BEING A SUPPORTIVE PARENT OR GUARDIAN
Being a parent or guardian of a high school interscholastic athlete can be
an extremely exciting experience.  Participation with your child can and should be a cherished activity.
Parental or guardian support is very important to these athletes.

The four years go extremely fast; be a partner in the adventure with your athlete and the school.  To make the cooperative effort the most
rewarding it can be for the athlete as well as the parent or guardian, here are some thoughts collected over the years on being a supportive parent:

BE POSITIVE.
Don't let playing time dictate the athlete's happiness.

BE SUPPORTIVE OF THE COACHING STAFF.
Nothing can erode the intricate fabric
of teamwork faster than athletes doubting the capabilities of coaches.  Coaches are trying to do their best at all times.
It takes years to develop all the technical, psychological and social skills necessary in the profession.

BE PART OF A PARENT NETWORK.
Special relationships can be fostered over the careers of our athletes by
socializing with other parents.

BE ENCOURAGING.
To say winning or losing are not important is not true.  If this were true, we wouldn't keep score.  We take great pride in our
accomplishments; preparing for the competition is the athlete's ultimate goal.  When  things aren't going well for your child or
for the team, that's when parents or guardians need to be the most supportive and positive.

The athlete alone does not dictate the success of our athletic program.  Our school's team, students, and
adult supporters are engaged in a joint venture.  If the contribution of either is less than the total, everyone stands alone.
We have tremendous support for our athletes by the coaches, administration and the community.
We thank you for your support, too. We sincerely hope  you enjoy the athletic experience in which
your child is involved.

It causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events, and outcomes."
